Lesson 1


  • Listen to the extract and figure out the title of the unit: 1 word, 9 letters (AUSTRALIA
  • On your copybook, start creating the mind map with different categories: animals, sports, landmarks... 
  • Have a look at the pictures below and add words to your mind map. Then place the pictures on the map -> correction


Lesson 2


  • Watch the video but don't take notes.
  • Have a look at the map underneath: click on the different spots and have a look at the different informations. Take notes if you want to, but not too many. Enough to remember the MAIN things if you really want to. Just visit the country from your bedroom!

Find out the names of the states and territories and their capital and write them down in your copybook. TRACE ECRITE

=> Assignment: With what you have discovered about Australia, create an acrostic using the letter of the country. For each letter, write a short sentence in order to motivate people to go and visit Australia.

Lesson 3


  • Now, read the instructions carefully: here are 6 picture frames. You have three minutes to figure out the missing words for each one and put them in the right order.

  • Assignment: Write a summary about the history of Australia. You can go online and research it but remember to be brief. (80 words minimum) -> Correction


Lesson 4

  • Listen to the song and try to fill in the gaps
  • In the song, highlight the following words: dream-time / a settler / convict / digger / Depression / Albert Namatjira / Clancy on his horse / Ned Kelly / Waltzing Matilda / drought 
  • Now on this document and in groups (if you want) write the topic you want to work on. It can be picked as many times as it needs to be but EVERY TOPIC NEEDS TO BE CHOSEN ONCE. 


Lesson 5


  • Once you have your topic: go online and find out its meaning, its history, its link with the country... why you think I've chosen this particular word for you to work on. 
  • Once you have those information, create flashcards for your classmates to learn about it on Quizlet.
  • Write 4 questions with 4 possible answers and give them to the teacher (so that a Kahoot quiz can be created by your teacher)

  • Look at the document below and answer the questions in your copybook. There is no right or wrong answer. It will help you for the rest.

  

  • What is a legend of creation?
  • Why is the text a legend of creation? -> Make a list of all the elements that you think are important in a legend of creation. 
  • Write down the elements to help you create your own legend of creation.
  • Assignment: In pairs or alone, start writing your own legend using the following sentences as your starting point: "Before there was nothing. Now, the world is a classroom with 25 students and one teacher"

On the computers, research the city appointed to you:

  • Each group gets a city:

  • Make a list of the different activities, the famous places, what to do and see.
  • Create a brochure. 
  • Read and do the worksheet
  • Prepare questions to ask potential clients who want to go to your city about their likes and dislikes, what they have done before or not
  • Create a questionnaire on the computer that you will send to your classmates. 

=> complete the worksheets on the present perfect and the preterit if you haven't done it before)


Lesson 10


  • Final task: You receive the different questionnaires, you answer them and send them back (we'll think of something in the cloud of ED). Then, the travel agents will pick two clients they think are the best for their city and send them their brochures. In the end, we'll count how many students have chosen the same city.
