Lesson 1
Have a look at the picture below and then figure out the title of the unit (4 words, 11 letters) by giving some words and writing them on the board. LOOK AT ME NOW!
To help you start with this unit, you have 3 minutes on each game to get some vocabulary and ideas.
Now, match the icon with the correct name.
Choose one social media and in pairs make a quick search to fill in the table below:
Date of creation | Creator(s) | Main purpose (primary / actual) | Data collection | Selfies (how and why) |
---|---|---|---|---|
Once you have collected the data, dispatch yourself in groups of 5 to get the rest of the information and complete the table. Answer the questionnaire.
Then let's create a mind map together.
Imagine the different topics this unit could be about and then read the Unit Goals. Find a problematic.

Each student will receive a part of a 4-part document: either a title, a picture, a "What it looks like I'm doing" and a "What I am actually doing/thinking". Go talk to the other students. YOU CANNOT SHOW THEM YOUR CARD. You have to describe it in order to be able to find your classmates who share the same document.
Lesson 4
Watch the video below and answer the questions on the worksheet.
Write a summary of this video: start with introducing it, the idea put forward, explain if you agree or disagree with them and give advice on how people could use social media better.
To help you, remember your lesson on modals (9).
Hand it in.

Define the categories and organise your ideas (either on a mind map or in a table).
2nd listening: add more information for each category, it can be words, numbers, or sentences
Organise your information on your draft and check it with your neighbour.
3rd listening: check the information gathered and complete it if necessary.
Finalise your draft and write a summary on what the listening was about in French. Hand it in.
To help you, fill in the worksheet below.
Lesson 6 - Final Task
Like Olivia Muenter, take a selfie and explain what you wanted to represent and what you did to make it happen: concentrate on the dangers that could have happened while taking it.
You should:
- think of a message/an idea you want people to react to
- write the paragraph: "What it looks like I'm doing" - what you want people to see.
- stage your selfie carefully
- write the paragraph: "What I am actually doing/thinking" - what happened, how you organised your picture, the reality behind it
- continue with a "What could have gone wrong? Could have I died taking this picture?" sort of scenario.
- conclude with what you think of selfies.
