Arthur was first mention in a Celtic poem written during the invasion of the Saxons which followed the fall of the Roman Empire. He is compared to Gwawrddur who is a very skilled soldier but "no Arthur". Therefore, Arthur is superior to him. He is a reference and believed to be one of the greatest warriors at the time.
